Flood support for the Older People of Feni district

Nuru Miah, who lost his daughter in the devastating flood, stood quietly as the first recipient of cash assistance and a winter blanket at the distribution event. In the distribution inauguration point of “Flood Response and Resilience Building for the older people of Feni district in Bangladesh” project funded by “HelpAge International” and Implemented by “Resource integration Centre(RIC)”, Nuru Miah (72) is taking cash support and winter blanket from ‘Country director of HelpAge International’ Md. Jahangir Alam, Deputy Director of RIC Mr. Dipak Ranjan Chakrbarty, and Deputy General Manager Mr. Hanif Mia and the local representatives. Total 500 elder male and female who are above 60 years old, have received 6060/-taka per head and a  blanket. Further, 100 women received traditional winter protecting women wear “Chadar” and 100 males have been received warm sweater. 

Fatema Begum, a 78-year-old woman, could not attend the distribution due to illness. Her village road, near the Kohua River, was severely damaged by devastating floods, making travel difficult and costly for her. Upon hearing about her situation, the RIC distribution officer decided to visit her home. They personally delivered a winter protection blanket to her doorstep. Fatema was deeply surprised and touched by this thoughtful gesture. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the donor and organizers. The act of kindness brought her comfort and relief during a challenging time.

Kalan Bia, an 82-year-old handicapped woman, lives with her son, who is also handicapped and begs in nearby villages. On the distribution day, she was too sick to attend, and her blanket remained unclaimed. The damaged road near her village made it extremely difficult and costly for her to travel. Upon learning about her situation, the RIC distribution officer visited her home to deliver the blanket. Kalan Bia was deeply moved and surprised by this thoughtful act. She expressed sincere gratitude to the donor and organizers for their support. The gesture brought her comfort and hope during her had circumstances.
